What are Macronutrients?

Macronutrients are the chemical compounds that provide bulk energy (calories) to the human body. They are needed in large amounts for physical growth, metabolism, and overall body functioning.

The three main macronutrients are:

  • Carbohydrates (Carbs)
  • Protein
  • Fat

How Does the Macro Calculator Work?

  1. Select the unit type.
  2. Enter your age, gender, and body composition (height and weight).
  3. Select your daily activity level and bodyweight goals.
  4. The tool allows you to change the BMR calculation formula if needed.
  5. It supports Mifflin St Jeor, Revised Harris-Benedict, and Katch-McArdle formulas.
  6. For 'Katch-McArdle', you need to enter your body fat in terms of percentage.
  7. Press the 'Calculate' button to obtain the macronutrient results.
  8. The tool returns the number of grams of macronutrients required per day corresponding to the activity level and fitness goals.
  9. Also, the calculator provides results in four categories: Balanced, Low Fat, Low Carb, and High Protein.
